Crown thinning removes select interior branches to let light and air move through a canopy without changing its overall shape. Canopy reduction brings the whole crown in evenly, which is useful for a tree that has outgrown its space near a roofline or property line.

Cabling and bracing support a tree with a structural weakness, like a codominant trunk or a wide, included-bark union, instead of removing it outright. A properly installed cable reduces the load on a weak union without changing how the tree looks day to day.

A stump left behind after removal can attract pests, become a tripping hazard, and get in the way of replanting. We grind stumps down below grade so the area can be reseeded, mulched, or replanted without a mound in the way.

Timothy Street founded Streetsville in 1818 after surveying land along the Credit River, and the village was formally incorporated in 1858. The heritage core around Queen Street still carries some of the oldest street trees in Mississauga, planted alongside brick homes and storefronts that date back to the 1820s and 1850s. Those century-plus trees need a different level of care than the younger trees in Vista Heights and Riverview, which were developed starting in 1953, or the still-newer plantings in River Grove from the late 1980s.
The City of Mississauga's Private Tree Protection By-law requires a permit before a tree of 15 centimetres in diameter or more is removed from private property. The base permit fee is $399.77, with $139.72 for each additional healthy tree removed under the same application, and the city allows up to 30 business days to review it. A dead or dying tree is exempt from those fees, though a permit application is still usually needed, and a native replacement tree is required for every 15 centimetres of diameter removed. Tree trimming does not fall under this bylaw at all - only removal of a living tree does, and we can tell you before you apply whether your situation needs a permit.
Streetsville sits on both banks of the Credit River, and the historic village core on the west bank carries mature tree cover close to the water and its floodplain. A tree growing near the riverbank needs a more careful read on lean, root exposure and soil movement than a tree on a flat lot further from the water, which is part of why we walk every property before quoting.
